After several inspiring performances for Wales at Euro 2016, the 33-year-old was brought in primarily to be a leader. Needless to say, he hasn’t fulfilled expectations in his time as Everton skipper, and was sent off in the 2-1 defeat at Burnley earlier this month for a ridiculous lack of composure.

Ryan Giggs has taken over as Wales boss after the departure of Chris Coleman, and the former Manchester United winger has named Williams as captain.
Everton fans would love to see just an ounce of the quality Williams showed for Wales at Euro 2016, and the club has been linked with several central defenders already this year.
