da aposte e ganhe: According to a summer transfer round-up in German publication Bild, Tottenham are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen forward Karim Bellarabi this summer.
da realsbet: As well as keeping hold of his key players such as Toby Alderwiereld, Harry Kane and Dele Alli, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to strengthen his squad this summer in order to ensure that they are contenders to win the Premier League title next season.
One of the areas he will be playing particularly close attention to is in attack, where Moussa Sissoko and Vincent Janssen have failed to impress after moving to White Hart Lane last summer.
The link to Bellarabi – who is also said to be a target for arch-rivals Arsenal according to the report – suggests that the Argentine boss knows where he needs to improve his side, who will also once again be competing in the group stages of the Champions League. Bellarabi is valued at £18.7m by transfermarkt.com.
Here are three reasons Tottenham must sign Bellarabi this summer…
Statistics
Despite missing most of the first half of the season because of a muscle injury, the 27-year-old certainly bounced back and showed some decent form on his return.
The winger scored two goals and provided a further six assists in 19 Bundesliga appearances while he also netted on his first Champions League outing of the campaign too – one of his side’s goals in their 4-2 first leg defeat to Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.
His 2015/16 stats are perhaps more of a show of the ability he has as he scored 12 goals and picked up 14 assists for his teammates in 49 appearances in all competitions.
Price tag
While Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will certainly be wary on getting the right players this summer having spent £30m on Moussa Sissoko last summer – a move that has ultimately failed to pay off so far – the €30m (approximately £26m) valuation of Bellarabi could be tempting as transfer fees continue to rise.
Spurs like to get value for money when they sign players and considering the Germany international is 27 years of age and should be in his prime, it could be a great deal – especially if they can recoup most of the Sissoko fee if the Frenchman is shown the exit door this summer.
The success of Son
Tottenham also signed Son Heung-Min from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and even though he perhaps struggled a little in his first season at White Hart Lane – scoring eight goals in 40 appearances in all competitions – he showed this term just how good he is.
The 24-year-old netted 21 goals and produced 10 assists in 47 outings in all competitions, and if Bellarabi could make a similar impact if he was to sign for Spurs then they could be an unstoppable attacking force next season.
