According to Turkish outlet Star, Everton striker Cenk Tosun will push through a move back to Besiktas if the Toffees manage to bring Diego Costa back to the Premier League.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Merseysiders have been linked with a move for the Spain international as Farhad Moshiri looks to make a ‘statement’ signing this summer.
Costa scored just five goals last season as he struggled for Atletico Madrid, and was also hit with an eight-game ban for insulting an official – it is safe to say he didn’t enjoy the best of times.
Thogden challenged himself to DM 100 footballers on Instagram. Find out who replied in the video below…
A report from The Daily Mail states that Everton’s transfer budget is small, but Moshiri is willing to stump up the cash in order to bring Costa to Goodison Park.
If the move does materialise, Tosun may be looking to leave having started just 10 Premier League games last term under Marco Silva.
Tosun may get closer to his wish
The £16.2m-rated forward was reportedly ready to take a pay cut in order to force a move away from the Toffees back in May, so he clearly wants an exit from Goodison Park if the deal is right.
If Marcel Brands can grant Moshiri his wish and bring the former Chelsea striker to Merseyside, then Tosun will take a huge step towards getting his own wish of a release from his nightmare.
The Turkish international will be behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Costa in Silva’s pecking order if the ambitious move goes to plan, and it will probably be best for all parties if Tosun moves on.
He has scored just nine goals in 43 games since arriving in a £27m deal from Besiktas back in January 2018 – it could easily be argued that bringing him to the club has been one of Everton’s greatest transfer gaffes in recent years.
At least if Costa joins, Tosun’s desire will get a bit closer to coming to fruition.
