Pundit Paul Merson has backed Arsenal to overcome West Ham United in Wednesday night’s Premier League clash at the London Stadium.
West Ham will enter the match off the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, which gave David Moyes his first three points since replacing Slaven Bilic as head coach of the Hammers.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have lost against Manchester United and drew with Southampton in their last two.
The Gunners have slipped to six position in the Premier League table due to the form of those around them, but Merson has tipped his former club to return to winning ways on Wednesday night.
Indeed, the 49-year-old believes that West Ham might struggle physically after putting so much into their victory over Chelsea at the weekend.
Merson told Sky Sports:
“West Ham are a bag of revels. I watched them play at Everton, and they were absolutely slaughtered. They were so poor.
“They then could have got a result at Man City, then they beat Chelsea. I still think Arsenal will win this, because Arsenal do have joy at West Ham, and they put so much into that win over Chelsea they might not have much left in the tank.”
Arsenal recorded a 5-1 win over West Ham when they travelled to the London Stadium during the 2016-17 campaign.
