da winzada777: It’s fast approaching Harry Redknapp’s busiest day of the year and no doubt you can expect to see him talking from his car to Sky Sports News about possible signings Daniel Levy is about to pull off. Could the out of favour Man City forward, Craig Bellamy be one of this year’s customary last minute signings for Tottenham?
Newspaper reports yesterday claimed that Bellamy was set to snub interest from Liverpool in order to join Tottenham before Wednesday’s 11pm transfer deadline. Spurs have already recruited Emmanuel Adebayor from City to bolster their strike force but the reports say Redknapp is still keen to add another forward before the window slams shuts.
Bellamy is hoping that City will now pay off the final year of his £95,000 a week contract after Mancini admitted that the Welsh international has no future at the club. If City do settle the final year and cut their losses, Bellamy would arrive on a free at White Hart Lane as it is unlikely that Redknapp would pay a transfer fee for the 32-year-old due to his low resale value, although a season-long loan deal may work well for both clubs.
He now seems unlikely to re-join former side Liverpool, whom he left in 2007, as he is unwilling to play second fiddle to Suarez and Carroll at Anfield and the best option for his career will be to move to White Hart Lane where I think he could form a little and large partnership with Adebayor and where Redknapp is a known admirer of the dynamic forward.
After signing Adebayor from City, Spurs are already looking much stronger in attack and Bellamy would be fighting for a place in the side with Adebayor, Jermain Defoe, Van der Vaart, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch unless he secures a late transfer out, so this makes it hard to see where he would fit in?
Harry prefers playing a 4-4-2 formation and I can see Van der Vaart and probably now Adebayor as first-choice front two at White Hart Lane. In the first game of the season against Manchester United, Redknapp played Defoe and Van der Vaart upfront while this weekend against Man City, Harry opted to play Crouch and Van der Vaart with Bale and Lennon providing the service from the wings.
After watching this performance against City, it was clear that they were struggling to get their creative players into the game with Bale and Lennon both being left isolated on the wings far too often. I think the tenacious Bellamy could be the answer to this problem as he would add some flair to their strikerforce either playing off Abebayor or from the wing and he also has the ability to drop deep and help out the midfield. However it could then be hard to include Van der Vaart, the only way would be in a 4-3-3 formation with expected arrival Parker playing the holding role with Bale and Lennon on the wings and Van der Vaart, Adebayor and Bellamy upfront.
Adebayor and Bellamy linked up and played together at Man City and formed an unlikely friendship at Eastlands, mainly in response to Mancini’s refusal to select either of them in the side. Could they again be an effective partnership at Spurs or would Bellamy be better off rotting in the reserves at City for a season while still pocketing his high wage?
